About our Ministry:
Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation!
2 Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise!
3 For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. Psalm 95:1-3 NIV ‘84
Welcome to the St. John Lutheran Church Music Ministry web page! At St. John, we strive to worship our Lord Jesus Christ in spirit and in truth, and to bring glory and honor to His name. More than just making music, the various ensembles offer us, God’s children, a way to honor Him for who He is. The music ministry welcomes all levels of musicianship and we encourage you to sincerely consider one or more of the opportunities below.
The handbell choir is an exciting part of the music ministry at St. John and meets together to rehearse, laugh, and ring praises on Tuesday nights from 5:15 – 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. The handbell choir plays at various times during the year (though we ‘break’ for summer) for worship services, concerts, and outreach events.
It is not necessary to know how to read music to be a ringer in the bell choir and it is open to anyone middle-school age and up! Please contact Christy Asleson for general information and find out why the bell choir might just be place for you to plug-in to the music ministry!
The St. John Adult Choir is a vibrant ensemble that enjoys lifting up a united voice in song to our Awesome God! Rehearsals are held on Tuesdays from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. in the sanctuary and being able to read music is not a requirement! In addition to singing in worship services approximately twice a month, the choir ministers through music to our shut-ins as well as to the community in various ventures and mission projects. The choir offers a fun and relaxed atmosphere to get involved in a ministry of St. John. Please call Christy Asleson with any questions or just drop by!
The mission of the Audio/Visual Team of St. John is to exalt the Lord Jesus Christ through reinforcing electronic sound and projected material. Each member of the A/V ministry is a co-laborer with singers, speakers, and instrumentalists. Only when the system works faithfully can we reproduce and reinforce the voices of the singers of His praise, the speakers of His Word, or the ones giving testimony to His grace. If you have any interest in assisting with this ministry, please contact Rebecca Schaffer. [No experience necessary!]
It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High. Psalm 92:1 NIV ‘84
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song. Psalm 95:2 NIV ‘84
My heart is steadfast, O God; I will sing and make music with all my soul. Psalm 108:1 NIV ‘84
